21 Jun Milwaukee Business Journal: UW Health partner UnityPoint Health launches $100M venture fund
UnityPoint Health, one of the largest health systems in the Midwest and the 13th-largest nonprofit health system in the U.S., recently launched a $100 million venture fund to invest in startup companies focusing on digital health, medical devices, and therapeutic and healthcare services.
The UnityPoint Health Ventures Innovation Fund will look at startups across the country, but could show particular attention to health tech startups in Wisconsin given its footprint in the region.
UnityPoint Health – Meriter in Madison, part of UnityPoint Health, employs 3,500 people and provides care in Madison, Dane County and surrounding communities. To add, UnityPoint Health, which is based in Des Moines, Iowa, has a joint operating agreement with UW Health, the integrated health system of University of Wisconsin-Madison that serves more than 600,000 patients each year at six hospitals and more than 80 outpatient sites, mostly in the Madison area.
